Zumbayllu - file under: folk Bolivia
Zumbayllu officially works since 1989 as a duo, and for larger stages they work with 2/3 guestmusicians (for the electric bass; and for assistance with kena, wind-instruments, backing-vocals, drums and stringed instruments)
The duo consists of : Hans Elzinga : he plays all stringed instruments (i.a. different guitars, typical stringed instruments from Boliva like charango and k'onkota), percussion instruments, moceños (typical flutes from the Andes), lead- and backing vocals, he is musical director.
Anneke van Rijswijk : she plays all wind-instruments (panpipes in various lengths), tarkas (wooden flutes from Bolivia), moceños, bombo (drum), chajchas (rattles), small percussion instruments, lead- and backing vocals, she is responsible for cultural research.
Zumbayllu already made 9 recordings, and assisted as well with recordings from other artists (i.a. the Uruguay-singer Luis Barros). We mention the most important recordings :
