Films

The complete schedule for WOMEX 15 – including the Film programme, Conference, and Showcase Festival – is available now!

WOMEX is delighted to present its first ever in-house curated film programme. 15 striking documentaries co-produced in 19 different countries – new releases that portray music, movements and history from across the world. Many of the films selected will enjoy their European or Hungarian premieres at WOMEX 15 in Budapest, and the programme will run across three days, Thursday, 22 to Saturday, 24 October. Films will be presented at both Bálna and Müpa Budapest (Palace of Arts), during the day and in the evenings respectively.

The Daytime Screenings will be divided into three sections, each examining a central theme at the same time every day throughout the event. The sections that can be explored are: Morning Moon, a trio of films by auteur Vincent Moon; Horizons, which travel the many soundscapes of the world; and Portraits, profiling exceptional artists of the past.

The Nighttime Screenings will include Film Festival Highlights from the Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival (CPH:DOX), the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA) and SXSW Film.

Don't miss the chance to immerse yourself in the world of cinema, as well as starting a conversation behind the scenes at WOMEX. We have invited directors, producers and representatives to Budapest for an open talk after their screenings.

See below for all Film profiles, and see virtualWOMEX for more information about each film. For more information, please contact film@piranha-arts.com.
