Celebrating creativity and diversity, from ground-breaking new talents to established maestros, from innovation to tradition, and from acoustic to electronic.

The acts play in front of dedicated international concert and festival bookers, tour promoters and venues, labels, distributors, journalists and industry professionals – everyone you need to help launch, re-launch, sustain and expand your career.

The WOMEX 18 Showcase Festival was comprised of the Official Showcase Selection, the Club Summit, the Atlantic Connections and offWOMEX programme, as well as performances at the Opening and Award ceremony.

The Offical Showcase Selection programme is created based on an annual call for proposals. Our independent, international jury - the 7 samurai - then chooses the finale programme. Five of them select the showcases. Rounding up a huge variety of artists, the Offical Showcase Selection places special emphasis on newcomers to the international touring circut.

With its seventh edition held at WOMEX 18, the WOMEX Club Summit has become a drawcard for professionals and musicians seeking club sounds and electronic music from across the world. Our dedicated Club Summit curator selects the Club Summit showcases together with the WOMEX team.

Making the most of WOMEX's island location, the WOMEX 18 programme again featured an 'Atlantic Connections' stage - spotlighting talent from various shores of the Atlantic (and beyond), including the Canary Islands.

With a limited number of slots available as part of WOMEX's Official Showcase, offWOMEX provides another way for artists to present themselves and their music to the WOMEX audience. Under this format, specialised musical evenings are offered, structured within a regional, national or organisational framework. The Opening Artists perform at the Opening Concert of WOMEX, focusing on music from a particular country or region and celebrating the start of the Expo. The WOMEX Award ceremony is our festive family event celebrating the winners of the WOMEX Awards. The WOMEX 18 ceremony was closed by a concert of the WOMEX Artist Award winner 2018 - Kronos Quartet.
