After extensive discussions with our local partner Hangvető, given the current circumstances and the latest travel restrictions announced by the Hungarian Government from 1 September 2020 - and in the best interests of our delegates and the wider community, WOMEX 20 will not be taking place on-site but will instead take place in a digital format. The details will be announced by the middle of September.

We and Hangvető make this decision with a heavy heart, as a lot of hard work has gone into the 2020 Budapest edition already. Bringing the world music community together every year is the backbone of WOMEX. However, we will find the best possible solutions to make the WOMEX 20 digital edition as exciting and valuable to the WOMEX community, including showcasing artists, conference speakers and all delegates, as possible.
WOMEX 20 is going digital and will take place online. The digital offer will feature the Conference, Films programme, Mentorings, Showcases and the Awards. And there will be possibilities for all registered delegates to get in touch with each other for networking. A full overview will follow shortly.

In addition to the online programme, together with our local partners Hangvető, “feat. Budapest Ritmo” offers conference sessions and concerts streamed from Budapest, available to all who hold a digital registration.
Please don’t! We will keep you busy during the usual WOMEX period, and our announced dates remain 21-25 October, 2020. The only difference is that you won’t need your passport, and you will probably get a bit more sleep during those nights than usual.

All registrations for the physical WOMEX 20 are being cancelled. The registration fees and stand booking fees will be fully refunded. There will be no automatic transfer to a digital ticket. For the online programme, re-registration is required.

The registration fee for the Digital Edition is 79 € (net, VAT will be added if applicable) per person, including 1 year access to virtualWOMEX. More details and additional booking options can be found here.

As promised all registration fees and stand booking fees will be fully refunded. Our Registration team has contacted all participants and informed them about cancellation and refund options.

Once you registered for the event you will be sent an email with your login data.
The video stand will be a Jitsi Room link embedded to your virtualWOMEX company profile that is now available to use. You will be able to control the room, deciding when to have it open or closed. Other logged-in delegates can visit you during your "opening times” by browsing your profile, or you can send them a link to the room. Use the video stand to present your company and activities in your own environment, but please note that the participant number will be limited to 15 users at the same time.
WOMEX is not responsible for any costs incurred by your accommodation or travel services. All deals are done directly between the delegates and the booked companies. Please check cancellation policies directly with your service provider and consider that cancellation policies might change due to extended travel restrictions announced by governments or health authorities due to COVID-19.

If you have booked one of the hotels via our website with the WOMEX Code, cancellations should be at no charge until at least the end of September. If any charge or payment is applicable, WOMEX cannot be held responsible for the final cost charged by the hotel. All deals are done directly between the delegates and the hotels.

The Call for Proposals for the Showcase Festival, Conference and Film programmes, inviting artists, speakers and filmmakers is now closed ! Each year, our international, independent jury, the Seven Samurai, review each proposal and from them select the official WOMEX programme. The next Call for Proposal will open again in January 2021 for WOMEX 21.
You can register online for WOMEX. Walk-up registrations on-site are also welcome during the event itself – nobody is ever turned away. Registrations for WOMEX 20 Budapest, Hungary is now open. If you are not a WOMEX delegate or want to bring someone who is not a WOMEX delegate, you can purchase tickets for the public festival including nighttime concerts and films closer to the 2020 event through www.womex-festival.com.
Journalists play a vital role in the dissemination of music and in keeping the important discourse on this art form alive. WOMEX acknowledges this by offering a reduced rate to media professionals, subject to approval.

If you are a delegate who will attend WOMEX first and foremost in your role as a journalist or as a professional involved in the editorial work of a music media company, you are invited to register for our special Media Rate. Simply complete the delegate registration as normal, and check the "Media registration" box when you are entering your personal delegate data – about half way through the registration process – and send a copy of your press credentials to registration@womex.com. After confirmation from our communications department, you will be granted the discounted Media Rate registration price.

Press accrediation (including free delegate-level access) to WOMEX 20 is reserved for a limited number of local press. For information on press accreditation for Hungarian media professionals, please email media@womex.com.
Delegate registration encompasses all five days of the event, and single day tickets are not available. Entrance to the WOMEX Trade Fair, Conference, Films, Opening and Award ceremony is reserved for WOMEX delegates who have registered for the full five-day event.

However, if you are not a WOMEX delegate or want to bring someone who is not a WOMEX delegate, you can purchase tickets for the public festival including nighttime concerts and films closer to the event through www.womex-festival.com.
If spouses/partners do not wish to register for the full WOMEX event, they can purchase tickets for the public festival only (please see question above) through www.womex-festival.com.
Before the event, WOMEX publishes a 'Who is Coming' list online. You can use virtualWOMEX to search for companies or individual delegates and to set up meetings with other delegates ahead of WOMEX.
All registered delegates of WOMEX will get a free one-year virtualWOMEX account. VirtualWOMEX is your online gateway to the world music community: you can present your company and artists, connect with other delegates, and much more.

virtualWOMEX is also open to those not registered for WOMEX – On payment of a fee (48 Euro + 19% VAT) all interested parties can register for virtualWOMEX or extend their existing account without participating in WOMEX itself. Please do this through our virtualWOMEX registration form.

Please contact us before the event at registration@womex.com if you have any special access needs, to make your time at WOMEX as easy as possible. Fully-registered disabled delegates may be accompanied by their Personal Assistant (carer) free of charge.
If you plan to register on-site on Thursday, you may attend the Opening Concert on Wednesday. Staff at the Opening venue will request that you provide them with ID.
WOMEX will launch a 'Make the Most of WOMEX' page ahead of the event to offer useful tips.

Exhibitors must not sell any merchandise at their stands.
Sunday marks the end of five days full of music, business and friendly networking at WOMEX. Join us for our Networking Breakfast, courtesy of WOMEX, and the celebratory WOMEX Award ceremony (delegates only!) on Sunday.
Each delegate will receive one copy of the WOMEX Guide in their delegate bag, distributed on arrival. Additional copies of the WOMEX Guide may be purchased at the Registration Counter for a fee of 25€, subject to availability.
