How to get to Katowice

Situated at the crossroads of main international routes, Katowice is a very accessible destination with two international airports within the distance of 80km. The city can be easily reached from Warsaw, Berlin, Budapest, Vienna or Prague within five hours of journey by car.
- Katowice Pyrzowice Airport
One of the largest Polish airports serving the region of Silesia, situated 30km north of the city. Flights are operated by four carriers – Lufthansa, Wizz Air, Ryanair and the national carrier, LOT Polish Airlines.
- Kraków Balice Airport
Second biggest Polish airport in Kraków is located just 65km from Katowice. Flights to Kraków are operated by many carriers including: Air Berlin, Austrian, British Airways, Brussels Airlines, Easyjet, El Al, Finnair, KLM, LOT Polish Airlines, Lufthansa, Norwegian, Ryanair, Scandinavian Airlines, Swiss and Vueling. Neobus and Tiger Express shuttles run daily from Kraków Airport to Katowice City Centre.
- Warsaw Chopin Airport
You may opt to fly into Warsaw, the Polish capital, and then continue your journey by train (2:20h travel time from Warsaw Central Station to Katowice Central). Warsaw Chopin Airport operates flights from all main European and international capitals and has the biggest network of flights out of all Polish airports. There is a fast train connection between Warsaw Chopin Airport and Warsaw Central Train Station (travel time is 20 minutes).

You may also fly with Ryanair into Modlin Airport located 35km north of Warsaw and then continue by train from Warsaw Central Station.
From Katowice Pyrzowice Airport to the City
Katowice City Bus Shuttle operates from Katowice Airport daily to Strefa Kultury (where WOMEX venues are located) and you can buy your ticket online here. There are also private minibuses operating from Katowice Airport – you can easily find them outside the Arrival Terminal.
Katowice is easily reachable from all major cities such as Warsaw, Krakow, Prague, Budapest, Vienna. Many international highspeed trains as well as intercity trains from all over Poland stop at Katowice Central Station. You can plan your journey and buy tickets online.
Katowice lies at the intersection of main Polish motorways A1(northern route leading to Gdansk at the seaside) and A4 (from the German border to Ukraine). The car park for all WOMEX venues is located just opposite the main ICC (International Congress Centre) entrance at Olimpijska Street in Katowice.
