Madalena Palmeirim is a portuguese singer songwriter and multi-instrumentalist (ukulele, cape verdian ukulele, auto-harp and piano).
In 2019 she released her first solo album “Right as rain” joining themes in Portuguese, cape verdian Creole and English. Sailing through a wide range of musical fields, Madalena goes from Rock, to Folk, Samba or Morna.

Before "Right as rain", the singer released the EP “Mondays” (2015), with which toured all around Portugal in venues and festivals. Madalena worked with various names of the national music, founded L Mantra and Nome Comum. Contributed to the soundtrack of
multi-award winning picture "The Metamorphosis of Birds" directed by Catarina Vasconcelos. In performing arts, Madalena made partnerships developing sound design for various plays and dance pieces.

Madalena Palmeirim has a 10 years career. In 2014 created the project "Week in, week out" where she set out to compose and present a new music every Monday of the year.

Madalena also dedicates her time to cinema soundtracks such "The Metamorphosis of Birds", directed by Catarina Vasconcelos, which has received the FIPRESCI Award for Best Film in the Encounters section of the Berlinale - Berlin International Film Festival. Madalena is also the author of “Lá vem o dia " movie soundtrack directed by Mercês Tomaz Gomes. “Lá vem o dia” it´s the winner of the Architectures for Best Film in the 2019 Fiction Competition.

On the period of quarantine, Madalena continues to promote her work, and in March was invited twice to perform on the Brazilian online festival SiAcalme, broadcasting a solo showcase from her Instagram account. In April, presented some themes from “Right as rain” on the Homestage Festival through her Facebook account and on the @QuarantineConcerts, been at the Oeiras Ignição Gerador Festival and created two video concerts to RHI Stage initiative and to the portuguese venue Casa da Cultura, presented herself at the digital concerts of radioboracaster SBSR.

Madalena also created in June the online project “In the garden with…” Duets with Madalena Palmeirim featuring the actress Sara Carinhas, the Brazilian musician living at Portugal MOMO., her new trio Rainhas do Autoengano and her band, on the last episode.

At lockdown, Madalena Palmeirim wrote and compoused a new Morna named "Lembrança di Nha Cretcheu"

When the lockdown ended at Portugal, Madalena performed with her band in several summer stages.

Now, Madalena´s preparing the postponed presentation of her first solo cd “Right as rain” at Lisbon - São Luiz Municipal Theater - counting with her band and several of the invited musicians on the "Right as rain".
