“(…) It´s a very happy testimonial from an encounter between a Portuguese musician and a Brazilian one, between the Portuguese music and the Brazilian music.” Mário Laginha
Miguel Amaral - portuguese guitar – and Yuri Reis – seven string guitar – are both musicians living in Oporto and from their friendship and complicity the CD “Saudade” (Longing) its born and edited in October 2019. Made of Brazilian Choros, Waltzes and Guitarradas, “Saudade” embodies only one musical country where we can discover mutual influences but also, a music that seems to be born in the same crib. “Saudade” portraits 500 years of common story and a deep affinity.
Miguel Amaral and Yuri Reis merge portuguese and brazilian repertoire in their first CD. “Saudade” features classical portuguese guitar themes and seven string guitar iconic themes. The CD has also three original and contemporaneous tunes: “Fado Barroco” from the Portuguese piano player Mário Laginha, “Três Marias” from João Camarero and “Caprichosa” from Pedro Amorim.
The result it´s not only virtuous, but also beautiful and moving, summing up perfectly the lasting “Saudade” between Brazil and Portugal.
Miguel Amaral and Yuri Reis been touring in Portugal since the release of their album, they present it at Porto, Lisbon, Aveiro, Lagoa, Santo Tirso and Vila Nova de Gaia. Also, at Famalicão and Penela, between venues and national festivals the audience has been surrendered to their virtuosity and talent.
