"Sponsored by Camané, Miguel Xavier, has the tone and in the way, the fado essence that lives 300 km´s from him.", Manuel Halpern, in Jornal de Letras (2018) about his first CD "Miguel Xavier"

Fado the traditional music of Lisbon seems extremely far away from Guimarães, the city founder of Portugal and the birth city of the young fadista Miguel Xavier. Also when we think of Oporto, the city where Xavier sings every day at a fado house, the first musical genre we imagine it´s not Fado. But the Fado is since forever in Miguel Xavier´s life, right when his grandmother shows him the classicals of the Lisbon music, when he was a child.

Miguel Xavier sings with an audience for the first time when his 14 years old. In 2015 he wins the fado contest União das Freguesias de Lordelo D´Ouro e Massarelos from Oporto. 2018 it´s the year that a local radio (Rádio Festival) give him the Revelation prize.

2018 it´s also the year the fadista releases his first CD “Miguel Xavier”. The album is super well received by the public and the reviewers of the genre. The journalist Manuel Halpern writes in “Jornal de Letras” “An album to the ones that like fado in state, no evasion. Fado without ice.”

“Miguel Xavier” (2018) receives praises also from his pairs. Camané – a main figure of Fado – quickly sponsors and openly expresses the appreciation for Miguel Xavier work: “…That Fado is from a lot of places, because countless are the movements of the people that are forced to departure. All this trues, that the fadistas learn to feel and sing, can be found in this first cd from Miguel Xavier, born in Guimarães and self-made fadista.”

Between 2017 and 2020, Miguel Xavier performed in several national stages and festivals; “The new values of Fado” at Casa da Música (Porto), the two editions of Fado festival at Porto and Lisbon, the National São João Theater - Porto, Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation at the summer stage, several venues at Lisbon ( Villaret and Fado Museum) and all through the country.

Recently, Miguel Xavier performed at Sons no Património 2020 and made an online concerto to his cityhall Guimarães.

In 2020, and almost closing this first cycle, Miguel Xavier edits the single “ Na esquina de ver o mar” a homage to the great Diva of Fado Amália Rodrigues on the year of commemoration of her centenary. The theme was a suggestion of Camané to Miguel Xavier voice. The videoclip features the cities of Lisbon and Guimarães. To continue this homage, Miguel Xavier´s going to present in November a show only with Amália Rodrigues repertoire at Autumn (Aveiro University).

Next months, Xavier´s going to feature in a new play "talvez...Monsanto" with is musicians and also with the instrumental and vocal group Adufeiras de Monsanto. The play is from the well know diretor Ricardo Pais and will premier at Teatro Viriato (Viseu) in november and then at Oporto´s National Theater São João.

Miguel Xavier´s also preparing a new album with well known poets and musicians of the Portuguese music scene.
