Welsh language Folk Roots band, 9bach were formed in 2005, and were an instant hit on the UK festival scene. After releasing 3 singles, the 1st album "9bach" was released in 2009, with many 4 star reviews in the UK music and national press.

After playing an off WOMEX showcase in Copenhagen 2010, many more more festival appearances followed, including WOMAD UK, and Spain.

9Bach have since performed their collaborative show "Mamiaith - Mother Tongue" with Australian Aboriginal music collective " The Black Arm Band" at the London 2012 Cultural Olympiad. The show explores, language, culture, and the connection between the Welsh and Aboriginal people.

9Bach are currently finishing off their 2nd album which is due for release in 2013

“Here’s a debut British folk album that is compelling even for those who can’t understand a word of what is being sung. Lisa Jen Brown clearly has the potential to match Scotland’s Julie Fowlis as a British star who doesn’t sing in English.” Robin Denselow, The Guardian ****

“A deeply, dark, beguiling and delicious object, the debut album of 9bach’s is a polarising experience. It’s not in the least straightforward, yet it is powerful, complex and simplistic all at once; be in no doubt I love it thoroughly.” Simon Jones, fRoots ****
