Sri Lankan-born vocalist and composer Manickam Yogeswaran, or ÒYogaÓ as he is more commonly known, was the first Tamil voice to hit Hollywood after singing on Jocelyn Pook's haunting soundtrack to Stanley Kubrick's Eyes Wide Shut. He followed this up with Spike Lee's, The 25th Hour and has just finished working on music for the controversial new movie adaptation of Monica Ali's bestseller Brick Lane.

Despite the tragedy of losing his father and one of his sisters to the Sri Lankan conflict when they got caught in crossfire whilst trying to flee to safety in Jaffna in 1987 while he was studying in London, Yoga realised that enduring peace is the only way forward for his homeland and dedicates his life to creating music which will spread this belief. In a world so full of gloom and discord, Yoga's music brings us positive energy to change it for the better, by reaching out and dissolving boundaries - not least musical ones - and focusing on music as a force to unite people regardless of sect, politics, language or ethnicity.

He works in an eclectic range of styles and groups, from the more traditional South Indian classical music of his group Tamil Classics, to the multi-cultural collaborations of his work with the band Dissidenten. Yoga is also a member of the 16 voice band The Shout who will be serenading the Royal Festival Hall's reopening as part of a 48 hour music marathon in June 2007. He has received acclaim for his appearances at festivals such as WOMAD, Glastonbury and Montreaux Jazz and last year's BBC Proms, and has worked with the London Philharmonic Orchestra and Spitalfields Festival.
In January 2000, Yoga began the Peace for Paradise or P4P project, with Marlon Klein and Jens Fischer. Yoga and Marlon have collaborated for what seems like a lifetime in a constant shift of musical contexts, marrying Western influences with South Indian drumming sonorities and rhythm cycles. Their best known work is with Dissidenten, a band renowned for creating world music of the deeper kind which is born out of decades of living in other cultures. The third member of P4P is fellow traveller and guitarist Jens Fischer. Together they make music that blends ancient and modern. The resulting album was launched at the Houses of Parliament in November 2005 and was dedicated to peace in Sri Lanka.
