Exu, love, and black LGBTQ+ empowerment come together in Laranjada, the debut EP of Vittor Adél. Through his work, the artist offers an intimate portrait of his lived experiences, affections, and ancestry as a Black queer artist from Salvador, Bahia. A powerful project featuring six original tracks, Laranjada explores the diverse nuances of Nova Música Baiana, driven by the pulsating rhythms of pagodão baiano and moving from the raw energy of paredão sound systems to pagotrap, with touches of rap, reggae, and R&B.
The visuals were photographed in São Tomé de Paripe, a traditional fishing community in Salvador’s suburbs where the artist was born and raised, and where he still lives with his family. Amid beaches, street markets, and roads that tell stories of everyday life.
