Sandami, also known as San, possesses an extraordinary vocal range, with rock 'n' roll high notes that gain a unique swing thanks to his inseparable pandeiro. Recognized as a crossover between rock and samba, the artist goes beyond with original songs, unreleased tracks, and hits from his career with the group Sambô.
San recently released the DVD *"SAN7"*, featuring career highlights, new reinterpretations, original and unreleased songs. Recorded live, the project captures all the versatility and charisma of the artist in a backyard filled with friends, musicians, lots of percussion, barbecue, samba, circus, and joy. “For me, playing and singing is always a party, so we created this vibe for my new work,” says the artist.
Widely known on stages across Brazil and abroad, San has participated in major festivals—leading the Sambô tour in the U.S. in 2015, performing in six cities, and in 2016, he embarked on his solo career with the *“De Tudo Pra Todos”* tour in Doha, Qatar. In 2019, he stood out at the *Brazilian Fest of Pompano Beach*, where other performers included singer Iza, Di Ferrero, and the band Biquini Cavadão.
Born in Bauru and raised in Descalvado (SP), San began playing the pandeiro at two years old and paraded with his parents in samba schools. By eight, he earned his first paycheck juggling a pandeiro alongside nine dancers, a skill he learned from his father. At 15, he was performing at dances in the interior of São Paulo, and he has never stopped since.
In 2006, San and a group of friends got together to make quality samba, with him taking on vocals, arrangements, and the pandeiro for *Sambô*. The band from Ribeirão Preto became known nationwide for their blend of rock and samba, releasing their first CD and DVD, *Sambô Ao Vivo*, in 2009, making their mark on Brazilian music with their bold mix of sounds, turning classics into groovy, rhythmic tracks.
San also recorded his solo album *“O Traço Vol. 1”* in 2009, performing a multimedia show with circus and projections at the Memorial da América Latina, taking this presentation to major theaters in São Paulo's interior.
With *Sambô*, San appeared in three episodes of *Malhação* in 2011 and released the CD and DVD *“Estação Sambô”* in 2012, playing at one of the *Big Brother Brasil 12* parties and performing around 25 shows per month across Brazil. In 2013, the group recorded versions of “Toda Forma de Amor” by Lulu Santos (theme song) and “Flores” (character’s theme) for the Globo soap opera *Sangue Bom*.
San has performed alongside renowned musicians from various genres, including Seu Jorge, Jair Rodrigues, Thiaguinho, Péricles, Benito di Paula, Luciana Mello, Wilson Simoninha, O Teatro Mágico, Sidney Magal, Chitãozinho & Xororó, Sérgio Reis, Di Ferrero (NX ZERO), and Elymar Santos, among others.
He has also contributed to soundtracks. In 2007, he composed the score for the circus company *Acrobático Fratelli's* show *Brincadeira* and in 2010, for the short film *Profana Via Sacra*, directed by Alisson Sbrana, which won the *Festival de Brasília do Cinema Brasileiro* in the 35mm Short category.
In 2016, San released the CD and DVD *“De Tudo Pra Todos”*, recorded live in studio, featuring career hits, original unreleased songs, and new interpretations, with guest MC Guimê and a bonus music video for “Os 4 Cantos do Mundo.” This work showcases San’s versatility and talent as an eclectic artist who defies labels, presenting his original compositions. The DVD is featured on *Music Box Brazil*, and the music video for *“Os 4 Cantos do Mundo”* was aired on *Multishow's TVZ*.
In 2017, he recorded the album *“Sandamí 100 Anos de Samba”*, featuring songs from the 1910s to the present day, with his unique interpretation and arrangements. Rather than selecting the most iconic songs, the artist was motivated by a desire to honor composers and sambas that have marked his life and the lives of many others.
In 2019, San, alongside *Cia K*, created *A Banda Que Voa*, a musical circus show that can be performed 30 to 40 meters above the ground. That same year, he released singles and music videos and debuted the show *Mulheres Que Cantam e Choram*, a trio of strings, vocals, and percussion, paying tribute to female interpreters and composers with fresh renditions of classic choros.
In 2020, during quarantine, San recorded and produced an album with five songs, released biweekly. He wrote the lyrics and music, arranged, played, and recorded all the instruments in a home studio, creating the artwork for the single covers. Two songs, *“Quero te Pegar de Canto”* and *“Ecoa”*, were released with music videos filmed in the artists' homes.
This year, San presents *SAN7*, featuring career hits and many new songs, accompanied by a swinging band that includes drummer Sudu Lisi, a partner from Sambô, three percussionists, and special guest singer Matheuzinho.
