Tenor saxophonist Karim Rome was nourished on Jackie McLean’s legacy through the alto legend’s own son, René, who shared with Rome his father’s unique perspectives on jazz history and on music from Africa. These have palpably had an impact on this pensive, searching composer and soloist who is steadily forging a strikingly original sound. In addition to performances with American jazz masters such as Jimmy Heath and Curtis Fuller, Rome has also appeared with Senegal's Orchestra Baobab and Morocco's Hassan Hakmoun.
