Quadrilha were born in 1991, after a series of solo projects by its leader Sebastião Antunes. Behind the new group was the desire to create a fusion between traditional Portuguese folk stylings and influences from other cultures and traditions, namely the Celtic sounds the band is so fond of.

Quadrilha were focusing on searching for the right sound and the instruments they needed to reach it.

Quadrilha's music is generally as simple as the motifs explored in its songs and its lyrics. And, in fact, Sebastião Antunes is not only a musician but a storyteller, his tales reflecting feelings and beliefs from the country folk.

The songs are either festive celebrations or tender ballads, but always presented with a unique, personal touch by a band whose musicians come from many different countries and many different styles.

On stage Quadrilha are a non-stop party from all over the world.
