Since the beginnings in1991, Egschiglen`s music is inspirated by the native grasslands and the traditional shamanistic and lamaistic epics and odes, that miraculously survived 60 years of socialism.
It's time for a walk through the labyrinth of vocal acrobatics: the diaphonic - the epic singing, or the melodic.
Gobi contains a selection of both traditional songs and pieces of contemporary Mongolian composers. With their fine-tuned arrangements, Egschiglen`s pieces often have chamber-music quality and transparency - without loosing the orginal enchanting power of a strong tradition.

"On one hand Mongolian sounds seem strange and mysterious to Western ears. Especially the khoomii chants leave you speachless. On the other hand the music sounds familiar, by expressing basic human feelings: love, sorrow and thankfulness. The musicians of Egschiglen take us to the fascinating universe of their far-away home, at the same time showing us that beyond all cultural differences there is a common element of human existance."

"A CD that deserves a deeper listening." (Tad Magazine / F)
