Alberto Caicedo
Alberto Caicedo:Versatile Singer, Multi-instrumentalist, Composer | Crafting musical tales that resonate with the heart
Alberto Caicedo is a Colombian singer, composer, percussionist and multi-instrumentalist from Guapi, on Colombia’s Pacific coast, now based in Luxembourg.
His music brings together the energy of contemporary salsa with the rhythms and cultural heritage of the Colombian Pacific. Drawing on his Afro-Colombian roots and instruments such as the marimba de chonta, Alberto creates music that is deeply connected to his origins while shaped by more than two decades of performing and collaborating in Europe and Latin America.
Over the course of his career, he has worked with artists including Cheo Feliciano, Willie Colón and Yuri Buenaventura, and performed with leading European Latin projects including Nils Fischer & Timbazo, Lucas van Merwijk and the Cubop City Big Band. Before moving to Luxembourg, Alberto lived and worked for many years in Rotterdam, where he studied at the Rotterdam Conservatory and became part of the Dutch Latin music scene.
His latest album, Horizontes, reflects this journey between Colombia and Europe: powerful, danceable salsa enriched by the sounds, stories and identity of Colombia’s Pacific coast.
Alongside his work as a performing artist, Alberto is committed to music education and cultural exchange, particularly projects connecting European musicians and institutions with the musical traditions of Colombia’s Pacific region.
Currently performing with his European live band, Alberto Caicedo is looking to connect at WOMEX with festival programmers, venues, booking partners and cultural organisations for 2027 and beyond.
