“Eneida Marta is a special artist; her soul has an unusual depth. Her distinct timbre can balance lament and hope in the same word, in the same breath. It is not difficult to fall in love with her voice, and once you do, it will be difficult to keep away from her.”
Nuno Pacheco in Jornal Público

Eneida Marta is one of the most genuine and vibrant African voices and a true ambassador for the music of Guinea-Bissau. This passion for the land of her birth has led her to embrace humanitarian causes, having been nominated by UNICEF as its ambassador for Guinea-Bissau.

In 2006, she caught the attention of the world music giant Putumayo World Music, which included her work on the compilation An Afro-Portuguese Odyssey. That same year, Eneida Marta came in first place in a World Music contest with the song “Mindjer Dôlce Mel,” which Putumayo also included on the compilation Acoustic Africa.

In 2008, she was selected for the WOMEX, performing for over 3,000 professionals from all over the globe. This special moment resulted in an acclaimed international tour.

This is just a summary of the path that has brought Eneida to the present day, taking her across stages from Madrid and Barcelona to Amsterdam, Vancouver, Rome, Budapest, Mexico City, Boston, London, and Bern. In each location, she has received the same emotional applause from those who find a voice full of soul, dreams, pain, and joy.

In September of 2022, Eneida Marta released Family, her sixth album, recorded between Lisbon and London and produced by Rúben Azziz and Gerson Marta. In 2025, she will celebrate 25 years of her career.
