Susana Travassos, a Portuguese singer and songwriter born in the Algarve, has been gaining international recognition in recent years, winning over admirers, building a dedicated audience, and earning the respect of the press. She has toured extensively in Portugal, Spain, Brazil, Colombia, Uruguay, Argentina, Congo, and South Korea, performing alongside renowned artists such as Yamandu Costa, Toninho Horta, Chico Pinheiro, Jean Charnaux, Luis Felipe Gama, Carlos Aguirre, Quique Sinesi, Martín Sued, Chico César, Luísa Sobral, and Zeca Baleiro.

She began her professional career in 2008 with a tribute album to Brazilian singer Elis Regina. This album was praised by both critics and audiences for its originality in arrangements and interpretations, leading to her first performances in Brazil in 2009, where she collaborated with Brazilian singer Zeca Baleiro. What was intended as a short trip turned into an eight-year stay, resulting in a deep connection with Brazil, where she played a significant role in bridging the cultures of Portugal and Brazil.

Her second album, Tejo-Tietê (2013 / Delira Música), was a collaboration with Brazilian composer and guitarist Chico Saraiva. The album features both artists interpreting compositions by Chico Saraiva, as well as well-known Brazilian and Portuguese standards.

After years of exploring MPB (Música Popular Brasileira) and becoming one of Brazil's most respected singers and performers, Susana Travassos released her third album, Pássaro Palavra, which showcases her musical identity and heritage: Latin America. It is no surprise that she seamlessly moves between Brazil and Argentina while staying rooted in her Algarve origins. As Pedro Rapoula put it: "Can a global record be deeply local? It can, and there is no problem with that."

Pássaro Palavra features a contemporary sound with a unique identity that blends fado, Latin American music, and tango, transforming these influences into the universal language of jazz. This album firmly establishes Susana Travassos as one of the leading Portuguese singers of her generation. She is set to release her fourth album in 2025.
