Uxu Kalhus is a band that has been dedicated to the reinvention of traditional Portuguese music since 2000. This reinvention lies in placing this music in a fusion universe, blending acoustic and electric instruments in unexpected dialogues, while also intersecting, often radically, different styles and influences in their arrangements of Portuguese folk songs and original compositions.
In 2006, they released their debut album, A Revolta dos Badalos, followed by Groove Transumante in 2009, 10 Years of Folk in Portuguese (a live DVD recorded at Festival Andanças), and Extravagante in 2012. This last album led to a show that brought together Uxu Kalhus and a Philharmonic Band on the same stage, known as the Extravagant Philharmonic.
In 2019, Uxu Kalhus released Enleio, marking a new phase of electroacoustic exploration, where old and new musical instruments merge into unique textures, creating atmospheres of melodic and harmonic eccentricity. Throughout their journey, Uxu Kalhus has performed over 900 concerts across Europe and Asia.
