Barely in their 30’s, and yet seasoned performers, this four person group led by the vocal powerhouse Mangey Khan, carry forward the centuries-old musical tradition of the Manganiyars and are leading examples of Rajasthani folk and Sufi music. Their music is a harmonic blend of distinct performance styles and personalities, with the dynamic and nuanced voice of Mangey leading the percussive punch and antics of Rais (morchang, bhapang, beatboxing), Bhungar (on khartaal) and Mangu (on dholak).

“Mangey Khan’s voice needs to be heard to be believed” - Hindustan Times, Feb 2012

"(Blend It Like Barmer Boys) - Their music rose above the repetitive tunes we hear in today’s clamorous folk market and was like a whiff of fresh air" - Indian Express, Nov 2012

Barmer Boys formed in 2011, and have performed with a host of world renowned artists including Vieux Farka Toure, Bombino, BaBa ZuLa, Madou Sidiki Diabate and Rupa and the April Fishes. The band's versatility of styles and bubbling energy infuses each performance - from soulful Sufi kalaams to uplifting wedding and celebratory songs, to boisterous jams with beatboxing.

Barmer Boys are in the national spotlight this summer and featured on Season 3 of Coke Studio on MTV - India's most popular non-film music TV program.

At Home: Barmer Boys is their debut album and was recorded at Mangey's home in Ramsar, Barmer district over three days in May 2012. The album features 9 tracks, recorded in single take.

The album is available on CD and digital formats on iTunes, Amazon.com, amarrass.com and music stores in the US, India and Europe.
