Thai-Dutch DJ-VJ duo and Animist Records label curators Apichat Pakwan's unique outernational mix of electronics, Thai funk, molam and tropical bass music has animated festivals across southeast Asia and Europe.

Also a four-piece live collective, they released nine records so far, including their international critically acclaimed debut album Esantronics, which was named Best Asian Album of 2019 by Worldmusic Central.

The foundation of the collective is formed by DJ-producer Phaze & VJ-percussionist Numnim.
Live they perform with a group of highly talented young musicians from the Northeast region of Thailand (also known as Esan).

They toured extensively in both Asia and Europe, including the Siam Paragon Songkran Festival and Studio Lam in Bangkok, Jim Thompson’s Molam Stage on the Jai Thep Festival in Chiang Mai, Isan Creative Festival in Khon Kaen, Kult in Singapore, Vang Vieng Fest in Laos, Fusion Festival in Germany, the Roots Festival and Houtfestival in the Netherlands, Thailand Grand Festival in The Hague, World Music Experience Festival in Romania, and Na Fir Bolg in Belgium.

“Apichat Pakwan creates a seamless blend of electronics and molam music and to their credit the electronic elements don’t steal the show. A fascinating debut. Highly recommended. ★★★★" - Songlines Magazine

“Apichat Pakwan’s Esantronics is our choice of Best Asian Album of 2019” – World Music Central

“One of those East-meets-West experiments that works very well. The Western dub and hiphop do not dominate the Isan music; everything is fused to create something new and refreshing." – Bangkok Post

"Esantronics is a superb album where fascinating, innovative Thai roots music meets masterfully-crafted electronica." - Transglobal World Music Chart

"Apichat Pakwan’s ‘Nam Ton Tad’ is a sun-soaked amalgamation of groove-trenched reggae & traditional Thai molam essence. Rooted with Laotian origins from the Isan region of northern Thailand, this contemporary interpretation of ancient folk melody is both lush and intriguing" - Mixmag Asia
