Happy Dog Project is a Greek band formed in 2000 in an appartement @
downtown Athens. The band performs it's own music that incorporates
elements from balkan/greek traditional tradition, mediterranean/middle
eastern odd meters and aesthetics, funk, jazz, dub and electro.

Happy Dog is based in Athens. The band's first CD entitled "Dog Days
Are Over" was out in 2004 and the second CD will be out in March 2007.

In the band's music one can hear influences from diverse
groups/artists: jazz and jam artists (Medeski Martin & Wood, John
Scofield, Herbie Hancock), funk artists (James Brown, Booker T. & The
MGs), avant garde producers/dj's (Bill Laswell, Dj Spookie, Dj Shadow,
Dj Logic), dub artists (Systemwide, King Tubby, Lee "Scratch" Perry),
Tzadik groups/artists (Rob Burger, John Zorn, Jamie Saft), new English
jazz (Cinematic Orchestra, Red Snapper), greek traditional soloists,
middle eastern and turkish groups/artists (Omar Faruk Tekbilek, old
turkish music, Mercan Dede, Babazula) and the list goes on...
The band played in numerous clubs and live stages in Athens and abroad
("Ecology World Festival" in the island of Samothrace, "15 Akbank Jazz
Festival" in Istanbul's Babylon club, International Music Day in
Technopolis central stage in Athens and many clubs and bars as
Parafono, Mikro Mousiko Theatro, After Dark etc). The band's 1st CD
has been in the play list for many radio stations in Greece and abroad
(Mexico, Canada's CIUT FM and so on…).
