A lot of water has passed under the bridge since that fateful month of May 2005 when Los Rumbers walked out of the recording Studio with their first demo under their arm. Hundreds of performances and international festivals such as REC 06 (Madrid), WOMEX 06 (Sevilla), Territorios 06 (Sevilla), Mercat de Vic 06 (Barcelona), LAMC 07 (NYC), Ollin Khan 07 (Mexico), Costa de Musicas 07 (Lanzarote), Actual 08 (Logrono, Pirineos Sur 08 (Sallent de Gallego)... have added substance to their line-ups with this duo of disc-jockeys, crazy about mixing black music such as jazz, funk, soul, and hip hop with flamenco and electronica.

During the past few years, Pete LaMotta and DrGuassa have combined their residencies at Brazelona Sessions in Barcelona, El Tren Club in Granada or Cafe Zapata in Berlin with tours around Germany, France, Italy, and Portugal, as well as performances in Mexico and the United States. You can also find their music in several compilations: 'Spain is Different' (HiTop Records 2005 Spain, Germany, Japan), 'A Night in Madrid' (Union Square Music Ltd. 2006 UK), and 'Loteria Beats' (Nacional Records 2007 USA).

But it is not until now, March 2008, when their first LP will see the Light. Its name: "Flamenco Breaks". In it you will find four songs from their initial demo plus eight new tracks that will mesmerize the listener with their particular vision of Flamenco, always respecting its time signatures and rescuing forgotten values. Classic Flamenco seen from the perspective of groove and breaks. Twelve tracks where you will hear ancient rhythms in Flamenco reedits, Rumba mashups, and bootlegs, new mixes of classic or lost songs.

'Flamenco Breaks' has been auto-produced by Los Rumbers and DeeJay Kul, and will soon be available on their website or at their performances absolutely free.

For many contemporary artists, Flamenco has become a meeting point between ancient tradition and the necessity to innovate. The result is a fluid dialogue between a proud past and a future that is being forged by the works of the young artists of today. Los Rumbers bring us one of the most interesting projects in the music scene today.

They also provide us with another way of looking at electronic music through its mix with Flamenco. In this manner, Los Rumbers have created a new vision, another step in musical evolution, and a new channel that brings Flamenco closer to the public and makes it more universal...
