Highlife powerhouse SANTROFI continue their journey to introduce the joyous music of Accra to the world. Led by arranger-producer-bassist Kojo Ofori, SANTROFI unites 8 of Accra’s top musicians with a shared passion ranging from vintage highlife to hip hop. Members of
the band have played as sidesmen with countless leading Ghanaian artists including Ebo Taylor, Pat Thomas, Ambolley, AK Yeboah and the highlife pioneer AB Crentsil, who they recorded with shortly before he passed away.
SANTROFI have shared stages and studios with the rising stars of Ghana’s vibrant music scene, collaborating with the likes of Adina, Camidoh, Yaw Tog, Black Sherif, and the iconic rapper Amerado, who features on their forthcoming release.
In Akan folklore Santrofie Anomaa is the name given to the nightjar bird - a symbol of profound wisdom with an exquisite gift for song. A creature of extraordinary vision with a voice that can heal, inspire and bring clarity; the bird is a solid reminder of the
immense potential residing within each of us. Santrofie Anomaa is also known as a critic of society's imperfections - a mirror reflecting the truths we may wish to ignore.
After five years on the road, the last 12 months has seen SANTROFI back in the studio recording fresh material. Co-produced and mixed by legendary producer and fourtime Grammy Award winner Jerry Boys (Buena Vista Social Club, Ali Farke Touré, Toumani Diabate, Ry Cooder, Kronos Quartet, Orchestra Baobab, The Rolling Stones) they are set to drop their new LP in November. Despite this fruitful period of writing new materal, the band hasn’t slowed down on the live front with 2024 seeing the band’s first tour of Japan, with an incredible reception and 13 sold out shows!
