KOSTAS KALAFATIS was born in Thessaloniki in Greece and was tauhgt byzantine music by his father that he was a profesional singer in the orthodox church since a young boy.
This influence and his Minor Asian origination made up the essance of his voice.Fourteen years old bought his first guitar and started in the age of 16 playing and singing
in bands.He is a rare case of artist who has choosen instead of spending his time in making << public relations>> to spent his carrier in making real music 35years and
supporting with knowledge the Greek Rebetiko,urban and folk song, working mostly in the country of Greece in Thessaloniki,Patras and the island of Skopelos were he is also
living the last 30 years. Kalafatis posseses and interprets Smyrneiko, Rebetiko and popular Greek song as he proves especially when he is singing. He is playing basicaly Guitar
and also a variety of string instruments of East Mediterranian like bouzouki ,lute ,oud ,baglama etc. He became also lastly succesfully a composer in his last CD that came out
by Universal called *Thessaloniki Patra Skopelos *and is including a remake of old songs and some contemporary compositions of his own and others composers.
