Aynur Dogan is one of the most well-known musicians from Turkey, she is a musical and cultural icon of the Kurdish people. Her albums are one of the best selling albums among the Kurdish folk music albums. She has taken her music beyond Turkish audiences to wider international audiences who have discovered, through her voice, the wealth of Kurdish oral traditions.
She appeared in numbers of international publications and she also appeared performing in several films including documentaries such as "Crossing the Bridge directed by Fatih Akin ” and “The Music of Strangers directed by Morgan Neville”.
Recognized with a Master of Mediterranean Music Award in 2017 from the prestigious Berklee Mediterranean Music Institute ( Berklee College of Music). She has collaborated with leading artists and groups such as YO-YO MA and the Silk Road Ensemble, Kayhan Kalhor, Javier Limón, Kinan Azmeh, Mercan Dede, NDR Bigband, Netherlands Blazers Ensemble and many more.
Her music contains a blend of Kurdish music with influences of western music, conveyed in a modern way.
