Academia da Berlinda is a Brazilian band formed in 2004 in the Pernambuco city of Olinda. With an original sound that represents the musical avant-garde of Pernambuco, it is characterized by a hybrid aesthetic that mixes different musical genres, such as the Latin styles cumbia, guaracha and merengue, surf music, and styles from the north and northeast of Brazil, such as carimbó, maracatu, ciranda and coco. His albums have already had the participation of several renowned artists, such as Otto and Lia de Itamaracá.
The band had several songs on the soundtrack of Brazilian films, such as the single French Brega from their eponymous album, which was part of the soundtrack of the film O Palhaço, directed by Selton Mello and the single Fui Humilhado from their album Olindance, which composed the soundtrack of the film Tatuagem, directed by Hilton Lacerda
