Balto, Kajsa

Sámi traditions meet the modern world in Kajsa Balto’s unique musical expression. Ever since her debut single “Vári Alde” in 2016, Balto has performed her material with an intensity leaving listeners hungry for more. Three albums later she has established herself at the vanguard of a special generation of young artists from Sápmi.

Kajsa has created a powerful soundscape together with her band consisting of cello, guitars and drums, and has distinguished herself with her soulful vocal expression. Her music has been described as an excellent example of how music knows no boundaries and becomes a common language across cultures.

Kajsa Balto has toured Norway for the last couple of years. Recent concerts also include Tønder festival (DK), Rudolstadt festival (DE) and Urkult (SE). She has collaborated with the Arctic Philharmonic Orchestra and The Norwegian Radio Orchestra (KORK). Kajsa has also been casted for other stage productions as a yoiker and singer.
