Manganiyars are hereditary community of professional musicians of western Rajasthan, living mostly Barmer and Jaisalmer district. Sheo tehsil in Barmer is known as one of the major hubs of Manganiyar music, its surrounding villages like Kotra, Taloka Gaon, Harwa, Bisu Kalla, Jhampli Kala, Siyani, Dedariyar provide perfect settings for the development of a Manganiyar Music Hub. Jamil Khan is a renowned Manganiyar singer from Siyani village of Sheo Tehsil. He is singing for the last 20 years and has travelled in many countries around the world with his soulful music. Among the other band members,Gaji khan have an unique voice and also plays harmonium. Manjur Khan of Dedariyar is the finest dholak player of Manganiyar community. Firoj Khan in Khartal, another master khartal player among youth, carries the legacy of Late Ustad Sidik Khan of Jhaphli Kala who invented this instrument. Latif Khan of Taloka gaon is famous for his exceptional Morchang playing. Their music reflects their tradition of musical skill and knowledge.
