The World Peace Music Festival, known as Sur Jahan is an annual three-day, non-commercial, non-ticketed music festival with the motto ‘Music for Peace, Music for All’. Started at Kolkata in 2011 on the first weekend of February and later on spread to Goa, Delhi and Rajasthan, artists from around the world and different states of India participate in this celebration of global folk music. With daytime workshops and evening concerts, Sur Jahan has been home to musicians from 32 countries with around 50 international and 20 national teams drawing an excited crowd of over 250,000 in 10 editions.
