Singer, songwriter, pianist, Bára Zmeková weaves together trace elements of folk, jazz, classical and fine electronica into a cloth of her own, displaying dream-like sound pictures carrying questing, cryptic poetry. Appearing in the Czech consciousness in 2013 as the winner of a national songwriting competition she released her debut album, Jeste Kousek (A Bit More), the same year. Wider recognition came with her 2019 breakthrough, Lunaves, which rose to the top of the Czech Radio 1 and Radio Proglas annual music charts and was nominated for Czech Music Academy Andel Awards in both Discovery and Solo Interpreter categories. With her skilled band she is a regular performer either in Czech clubs or abroad, and has appeared at major festivals including Colours of Ostrava, Banat Festival in Romania, United Islands of Prague and the Mišmaš Festival.
