Mr. Bricks aka Dario Mattoni is the charismatic front-man, songwriter and founder of the neo-vintage quartet, Mr. Bricks. These modernist players blend authentic sounds from the American jukebox of the 1950s with inflections of contemporary rhythm 'n' blues, to create a skillful mix of garage-surf sounds with a pulp aesthetic fused with urban jazz turns and rhythms, often transporting listeners to exotic worlds, forgotten by time. The band’s influences range from artists such as JD McPherson, Nick Waterhouse and Jon Spencer's Heavy Trash through to the Sonics and the Cramps, without losing sight of many new alternative and indie-rock bands. Mr. Bricks has already enjoyed success with their debut album "Busy" and has toured both Italy and the United Kingdom after winning the support of the Puglia Sounds programme. Following the success of Busy and stand-alone single “Toxic”, an interpretation of the 2003 Britney Spears hit. 2022 is the age of maturity. The production of their most recent work was placed in the hands of ZdB label, a consortium of musicians and producers who have worked alongside the post rock band Lo ZOO in Berlin, and frequently produce for AREA and other artists in association with the legendary CRAMPS RECORDS. The new album "Learning how to play" includes 10 easy-listening pieces, recorded live in the studio, mostly in analogue, with the artistic production of the eclectic Andrea Pettinelli, former producer for Patrizio Fariselli (AREA), Gulino (Marta Sui Tubi), Gianni Maroccolo (LITFIBA, CCCP, CSI, PGR, MARLENE KUNTZ), and Assalti Frontali.
