Wolfgang Haffner was born December 7th, 1965 in Wunsiedel/Germany. He started playing Drums and Piano at the age of 7.

When he was 18 he got a call from Trombonist Albert Mangelsdorff to join his German-French Jazz Ensemble Jazzensemble (1984-1989). He was also a Member of the Chaka Khan Band (94-95) and Klaus Doldingers Passport (1989-2000). In 1994 he was introduced by the legendary Bassplayer Anthony Jacks Paice, Al Foster, Ernie Watts, Cassandra Wilson, Steve Coleman, Charlie Mariano, John Patitucci, Joe Lovano, Nils Henning Orsted Pedersen, Paquito D´Rivera, Tom Harrell, John Abercrombie, Clifford Jordan, Clark Terry, Lee Konitz, Dave Liebman, Kenny Burrell, Harry "Sweets" Edison, James Morrison, Bob Mintzer, Benny Golson, Roy Ayers, Vince Mendoza, Denice Williams, Georgie Fame, Die Fantastischen Vier, Till Brönner, Barbara Dennerlein, WDR Big Band, NDR Big Band, Al Porcino Big Band, Maria Schneider, Christof Lauer, Bill Holeman, Albert Mangelsdorff, Victor Bailey, Wolfgang Dauner, Joe Haider, Roman Schwaller, Eberhard Weber, Manfred Schoof, Klaus Doldinger, Russell Ferrante, James Moody, Buddy De Franco, George Gruntz, Mike Stern.

His 2001 Album "Urban Life" (Skip Records) was released October 15th 2001. Special Guests are: Bob James, Pee Wee Ellis, Fred Wesley, Will Lee, Till Brönner, Nils Landgren, Eythor Gunnarsson, Tony Lakatos, Roy Ayers, Jay Beckenstein, Mitchel Forman, Chuck Loeb.

His newest album "Zooming" will be released in October 2004 on Skip Records.
