Caravan World Rhythms, founded in the year 2000, is a BC-based non-profit society operating in the Vancouver and Victoria regions in Western Canada whose mandate is to program and present a year-round series of performances, thematic cultural festivals, and educational events focusing on the music and dance of cultures from around the world, from Africa to Asia, Europe to Latin America. We work closely with local artists and organizations, as well as with top international touring performers. Caravan’s further mission is to use the arts as a vehicle for bringing different cultural communities together.
Highlights of our programming over the years include Tibetan Cultural Festival, Africa Fete festival, Ederlezi Balkan Brass Festival, and individual artists and groups such as Soweto Gospel Choir, Ravi and Anoushka Shankar, Goran Bregovic, Salif Keita, Nuevo Ballet Espanol, Masters of Persian Music, Inti-Illimani , Percussions de Guinee, Dakhabrakha, Huun Huur tu, and much more. We present our events in a variety of indoor venues from 100 to 2800 capacity in the region, as well as some outdoor spaces in the summertime.
