Pororó, is a native of Villa Mella Dominican Republic, habitat of ancestral Afro-Dominican musical expressions. Pororó (which translates to ''for both of us'', por los dos ) is the dialect spoken by the Villamellero. It is also the denomination that the natives of this community received, starting in 1822, when the island was going through a process of transculturation between the French, Haitians and Dominicans. This gave rise to the ''pororó'' dialect.
The name of the band is a tribute to the cultural and musical legacy of Villa Mella and its Afro-Dominican diversity, as the rhythms of palo, pri prí, salve, congos, son, etc. Their sound picks up this diversity and turns them into songs with a Caribbean island contemporary emotions, which work as a balm for those who meet, and generate this feeling of communion, for both of them, por los dos, pororó.

Pororó, es oriundo de Villa Mella República Dominicana, hábitat de expresiones musicales afrodominicanas ancestrales. El pororó (que se traduce a ''por los dos'') es el dialecto que hablaba el villamellero nato. También es la denominación que recibían los oriundos de este municipio, a partir del 1822, cuando la isla atravesaba un proceso de transculturización entre los franceses, los haitianos y dominicanos. Esto dio lugar al dialecto ''pororó''.
El nombre de la banda es un homenaje al legado cultural y musical de Villa Mella y su riqueza afrodominicana como los ritmos de palo, pri prí, salve, congos, son, etc. Su sonido recoge esta diversidad y las convierte en canciones con emocionalidad caribeña, isleña y contemporánea, que funcionan como bálsamo para quien encuentra, y generan esta sensación de comunión, por los dos.
Es una experiencia ancestral y moderna, multiformato, adaptable entre trío, cuarteto y quinteto, siempre con la fuerza ancestral que les habita.
