City of Virginia Beach

The Department of Cultural Affairs encompasses:
The Arts & Humanities Commission of Virginia Beach, a body of volunteers serving the arts community through work as liaisons and grant makers.
Performing Arts through the direct oversight of the management of the Sandler Center for the Performing Arts, curatorial oversight of a growing profile of performing arts series for the community and for Sandler Center and the Historic Houses Museums, including specifically culturally-rooted programming.
Liaison duties for the African American Cultural Center and several arts and cultural organizations in the area who receive city grants.
Partnerships with Parks, Libraries, and other venues for festivals and special events.
Public Art and Place-making for the city
Historic Houses and their preservation and activation
Any other matters of significance related to ensuring Virginia Beach's place in America as a Premier Cultural Destination.
