Palestinian Nay master, percussionist and composer, Faris Ishaq is breathing fresh life into the traditional Palestinian "Tashbib" style of playing, drawing from his Palestinian and Arabic musical heritage, refracted through contemporary jazz improvisation and cross-cultural exchange. In his remarkable solo performances he transforms the Nay into a living artifact, creating multi-layered acoustic soundscapes while deftly accompanying himself with gently driving Dabke rhythms from a leg-mounted frame drum. Bethlehem-born, London-based Faris has released three albums, Tripolarity (2019), Nature Addresses You (2021), and JASAD (2026), along with numerous singles and collaborative projects including 'Supplication', together with bass maestro John Patitucci, and 'A Wildscape', a Concerto for Nay and Orchestra, composed and arranged by Faris which premiered in 2024 at Southwark Cathedral in London, and performed on major stages including the EFG London Jazz Festival, and Monterey Jazz Festival.
