In 2006 Vinicio Capossela took his new album "Ovunque Proteggi" on tour and played over 100 concerts, first in major Italian theatres, and then during the summer in historic stone arenas such as the Roman Theatre in Ostia Antica, the Greek Amphitheatre in Taormina, the Roman Theatre in Pozzuoli, and the Verona arena. In total, he played to an audience of over 250 thousand spectators during the course of the year.
The tour was documented in the live cd/dvd "Nel niente sotto il sole", which has sold 40 thousand copies to date, winning a gold disc in Italy, and has recently been released also in Greece.
The show, of which Capossela is director and art director, literally reproduces the songs of his new album Ovunque Proteggi by immersing them in the evocative setting of a shadow theatre.
The first act is a riot of shadows, sounds and visions, followed by a short interlude which leads to the second act, where a different selection of songs from previous albums is played depending on the location of the concert, the moment and the guests that join him onstage.
One of the most authoritative international music magazines, Mojo has featured "Nel Niente Sotto Il Sole" among its "albums of the month" in october 2007's issue with a review by David Hutcheon.
Mojo had already placed "Ovunque Proteggi" in the number two spot of the 2006 chart of the best world music albums, behind the unforgettable Ali Farka Toure.
