Bashir Abbas, composer & oud player, is the ambassador of the musical culture of Sudan.
He was the first musician who established instrumental music as an art form in Sudan.
Abbas and his 8 piece ensemble play the typical 'dance music' which you can hear on TV and radio in Sudan.
The music is influenced by Arabic culture and African music, something we can hear in the variety of instruments, melodies and rhythms.
Abbas' oud playing especially is very groovy and earthy and it's a real pleasure to be at this crossroads between North Africa and the Arabic world.
