Lebanese musician Marcel Khalife- born in 1950 in Amchit ,is recognized as on of the Arab world's leading composer & oud virtuosos.( He studied the oud (the Arabic lute) at the Beirut National conservatory, and, ever since, has been injecting a new life into the oud.)
Named UNESCO Artist for Peace in 2005 for his artistic achievements and humanitarian contributions, Khalife has dedicated his life to the cause of peace and human rights in the Arab world and beyond and to the modernization of Arabic music and its elevation to a world class artistic and cultural status.
With his classical composition, Marcel Khalife has performed with major symphony orchestras in the greatest concert halls around the world
