Munir Hossn

Munir Hossn is a Brazilian multi-instrumentalist, composer, producer and singer. He began performing professionally at the age of ten in Salvador da Bahia, Brazil, and has since developed a singular artistic voice shaped by extraordinary instrumental virtuosity, deep rhythmic knowledge and an instinctive ability to move seamlessly between traditions, genres and instruments.

As a bandleader, Munir has released four albums, while his work as a producer, arranger and musical director extends to more than fifty recordings for artists from around the world. Whether performing on bass, guitar, percussion or vocals, his music reflects a lifelong commitment to cultural dialogue, combining rhythmic sophistication, improvisation and an unmistakable Brazilian identity.

While Brazil remains the heartbeat of his music, Munir's artistic language is equally shaped by his own cultural heritage. Descended from Lebanese and Angolan roots, his compositions naturally weave together Afro-Brazilian traditions with Middle Eastern influences, while the powerful rhythmic language of Afro-Cuban music has become an essential part of his musical vocabulary. The result is a deeply personal sound where ancestry, migration and cultural exchange coexist as living, creative forces.

Throughout his international career, Munir has collaborated with some of the most respected names in contemporary music, including Quincy Jones, David Grusin, Joe Zawinul, Hermeto Pascoal, Ivan Lins and Lee Ritenour, among many others. His performances have taken him to renowned venues and festivals across Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa.

Released in 2026, MysticSamba is the latest expression of this artistic journey. Recorded live with a five-piece band of Cuban musicians, the album celebrates the ancestral rhythms and spiritual traditions of Afro-Brazilian culture through a contemporary language where samba, rumba, jazz and improvisation coexist with remarkable freedom. At its heart, MysticSamba is also a tribute to the world's nomadic cultures and to the journeys that have shaped musical traditions across continents. Just as samba and rumba emerged from centuries of migration, encounter and resilience, the album embraces movement as a source of identity, honoring the African, Arab and Afro-Cuban currents that continue to resonate throughout Munir's music.
