Darya
Tel-Aviv based pianist & composer, specializing in North African music
Darya Mosenzon is a Tel Aviv-based pianist specializing in North African music. She began playing the piano and composing at a young age and studied classical music throughout her childhood, but was drawn since adolescence to other genres of music as well, culminating in her choice to pursue Moroccan and Algerian music.
Darya performs solo piano shows, as well as duo and trio shows featuring Grammy-nominated oudist Charlie Sabach and percussionist Matan Caspi. Other collaborations include prominent artists in the North African music genres, among them Raymonde el Bidaouia, Elad Levi and Lala Tamar. Darya has performed in festivals and venues throughout Israel, among them Mekudeshet, InDnegev, Jerusalem International Oud Festival and the Polish Jazz Festival, Tel Aviv. She has also performed abroad for two consecutive years at the Moroccan Festival Des Andalousies Atlantiques in 2018 and 2019. In addition, Darya has toured and recorded with Andalucious, Tarab Jerusalem, the Israeli Andalusian Orchestra and Jerusalem Orchestra East and West. DARYA’s forthcoming European tour is scheduled for Summer 2023.
