Marsada are a dynamic 7-piece from Lake Toba, Sumatra, Indonesia. They perform their own arrangements of Batak traditional music and folk mixing traditional instruments with acoustic guitar, often overlayed with beautiful close harmony vocals. With artistic influences ranging from 1950s American doo-wop to Latino, Marsada create a sound which is vibrant and high energy but at times deeply soothing and soulful.
Having completed a very successful debut overseas tour of the UK in 2004 Marsada will be returning in Nov 2005 to the UK as part of the 1st HEATWAVE tour (www.heatwave.org.uk). They plan to record a second album in 2006, tour elsewhere and further their distribution.
