Brussels based singer-songwriter, composer and dancer, originally from Cameroon, Zam Martino brings several elements of performing arts on stage. mixing Afro soul rumba music with contemporary Afro dance.
His influences root in Cameroon's traditional arts, Afro soul and hip hop, as well as in jazz, classical and blues singing.
His music is inspired by the "Ekang", ritualised melodies and rhythms from the Southern Cameroon, and in particular the "bikutsi", centered around the emancipation of women.
On the other hand, the texts are inspired by the traditional teachings of the Bulu-Fang and its Buddhist philosophy, as well as by the "mengan", rituals that serves as an outlet for the suffering of lepers.
Accompanied by musician from diverse origin, Zam creates a cross-cultural dialogue on stage, with the imprint of the Brussels identity.
