The ethnogroup Ogas is an ethno-fusion & turbo folk band from Riga, Latvia. The group, which performs regularly, was established in 2017, and its line-up consists of professional musicians who sing and play acoustic instruments: fiddle, kokle, wooden flutes, accordion, mandolin, Jew’s harp and bagpipe, accompanied by bass and drum set.
The Ogas repertoire includes Latvian, Irish, Ukrainian and other folk melodies as well as the group’s own ethno-based compositions with contemporary arrangements. Ogas have performed in Canada, Belgium, Germany and throughout Latvia. The ethno-group has also released two studio albums.
The Ogas sound is dynamic, powerful and emotionally diverse. Ogas also play traditional dances, involving the audience in the dancing.
