“Herencia de Timbiquí are one of the break-out groups (following Hugo Candelaria and Nidia Gongora, the latter having played many worldwide shows with Quantic and Ondatropica), with their own style mixing música pacifica with salsa and r&b”
by Russ Slater, Sounds and Colours, July 2014, USA
"Herencia de Timbiqui won the Silver Seagull in Vina del Mar ..... The talent of the Colombian Pacific has been recognized in one of the most important musical festivals of Latin America."
Semana Magazine, March 2013, Colombia
Herencia de Timibiqui's music masterfully mixes ancestral sounds from the Afro-Colombian Pacific with elements of urban contemporary music to recreate all the power and rhythm of the chonta marimba, with guasa and bombo. They combine lyrics and melodies as mighty as the jungle, the rivers, and the Pacific Ocean that surround the town this group comes from.
Their latest album, This is Gozar, touches both Afro-Colombian and African crossovers; it is a mouth watering pot of flavours and sounds, the lapping of the Pacific ocean on sandy beaches and a light sea breeze. Welcome to Colombia!
