In 2024, Enzo Favata reunited his legendary Quintetto Atlantico, eighteen years after their last concert—an event that reignited the passion of a generation and filled major Italian venues. Originally released in 1999, Atlantico became a landmark album in Italian jazz, selling over 50,000 copies and touring more than 400 concerts worldwide, including four tours across Latin America. Blending jazz with the literary and musical imagination of South America—echoing Borges, García Márquez and Sepúlveda—the quintet forged a distinctive sound that earned cult status.
Today, the original lineup—Favata (saxophones), Daniele Di Bonaventura (bandoneon), Marcello Peghin (guitar), Salvatore Maltana (double bass) and U.T. Gandhi (drums)—returns as a true Italian jazz supergroup, each member internationally acclaimed. Their unique instrumentation and lyrical, cinematic compositions resonate powerfully with new audiences discovering the band through streaming platforms.
Autumn 2026 marks a new milestone: the release on ECM Records of their forthcoming album, recorded in Munich and produced by Manfred Eicher—The Story of the Reunion of One of the Most Beloved Bands in Italian Jazz. Supported by an international tour, Quintetto Atlantico is ready to bring its timeless yet urgent sound to WOMEX 2026 and beyond.
