Lucia Rey reimagines the Mediterranean as a vibrant space of cultural exchange. Rooted in flamenco tradition and shaped by artistic experiences in Cuba and New York, the Spanish pianist and composer builds a contemporary language where Southern European heritage, Latin American rhythms, and modern improvisation converge with clarity and depth.
Her latest project, Nómadas, explores migration, identity, and shared memory across Mediterranean coastal cultures. Blending folk-inspired motifs, modal harmonies, dynamic rhythmic interplay, and subtle electronics, the quartet creates an immersive live experience that balances virtuosity with storytelling and cross-cultural resonance.
The project has been presented at major international festivals including Jazz Plaza (Cuba), Jazz in the Park (Romania), Stuttgart Latin Jazz Festival, Buenos Aires Jazz Festival, and Sicilia Jazz Festival, Guatemala and Montevideo jazz Festival among others, reaching diverse audiences across Europe and Latin America.
Recipient of the Plataforma Jazz España Award (2026-2027) and nominated for Best Jazz Album by Spain's Academy of Music Awards, Lucia Rey represents a distinctive Southern European voice with strong international projection and cross-market appeal.
