Due to the pandemic which has hit Brazil very hard, it wasn't possible to record a virtual showcase in the quality which you'd expect from Céu. Band members are staying at home in remote places and it wouldn't be responsible to bring them to Sao Paulo and to gather a crew for a video shooting.
Since her emergence in 2005, Céu (pronounced 'say-ou') has produced a prodigious body of work drawing on an impressive range of styles and influences yet indelibly rooted in the soundtrack of her Sao Paolo upbringing. Each album has travelled through different musical landscapes, from the joyous eclecticism of her eponymous debut – an enlivening distillation of samba, trip-hop, soul, jazz and Afrobeat, which earned her a Grammy nomination – through the reggae and dub of Vagarosa, the Northeast Brazilian road movie concept of Caravana Sereia Bloom, the nocturnal electronica of double Latin Grammy winner, Tropix, to the confident sonic experimentation of her latest, APKA!. Throughout, Céu has been busy touring and playing live on four continents, appearing at many of the world's major festivals, including North Sea Jazz, Roskilde, Coachella and Rock in Rio. Céu's new album APKA! was just nominated 3x for the Latin Grammy's 2020.
