Saigon Soul Revival electrifies Ho Chi Minh City's pre-1975 Nhac Vàng - Vietnam's golden-era popular music - honouring the original composers and artists while reinterpreting classic Vietnamese songs, and fresh compositions, with tight soul grooves, freely laced with psychedelic textures conjured up from electro-guitar, keys, funky drums, getting down nicely with traditional string instruments, Đàn Tranh and Đàn Bầu. It's a distinctive sound, adorned with the convincing voice of Thu Hang Nguyen aka Minh, tunefully enticing us to check into Vietnam's glittering musical legacy. SSR has performed countless shows across Vietnam, including major festivals such as Quest, Vibe Nation, and Mui Ne, honing the skills that, since 2023 have been motivating audiences at festivals including Transmusicales, WOMAD UK, Womadelaide, Wonderfruit, FMM Sines. This year they released their third album, Chốn Ta Về (The Place We Return To).
